FAQ
Do I have to export a file from Strava first?
No. Once Strava is connected, recent rides appear in the editor and you pick one from the list. Uploading a FIT, GPX, or TCX file still works if you prefer it.
Can I get a transparent Strava stats overlay for Reels or Stories?
Yes. Pick the ride, choose the overlay-only output, and export a transparent ProRes 4444 MOV with alpha. Then place it as a layer above your clip in a video editor such as CapCut; check that your editor supports transparent video. Overlay-only export follows the same rules as a finished video: free in SD; higher resolutions and watermark removal with a PRO or AI plan or a one-time export unlock.
Can I put Strava stats on a video for Instagram?
Yes, but TrainCraft does not post for you. Choose a portrait 9:16 aspect ratio and export a finished video with the stats on it (free in SD with a TrainCraft watermark), or export the transparent overlay and finish the clip in your editor. Then upload it to Instagram yourself.
What is free and what is paid?
Exporting a video with the overlay on it, or the transparent overlay alone, is free in SD (480p) with a TrainCraft watermark, up to 1 GB. Paid plans export in HD up to 4K without the watermark.
Do synced rides need an account?
Yes. Synced activities belong to an account, so sign in and connect Strava or Garmin. Uploading an activity file works without connecting anything.
Does TrainCraft post anything to Strava?
No. TrainCraft only reads your activities to build the overlay. The finished video stays yours to download and share wherever you want.
Is TrainCraft affiliated with Strava?
No. TrainCraft is an independent app that connects to Strava through the official API, only after you authorize it. Strava is a trademark of Strava, Inc.
