Route Planner FAQ
How does the route planner choose roads?
Your start point and parameters are sent to a cycling routing service. It picks roads suitable for the bike type you chose, avoids motorways and private streets, and prefers signed cycling networks where available.
What is the shape mode?
Paste an SVG path, type an emoji, or draw freehand. The planner converts the outline into a sequence of points on the map and finds the best cycling route through them on real roads.
Can I push a route directly to my Garmin?
Yes, if you are signed in and have connected Garmin in settings. Routes are saved to Garmin Connect as courses, ready to sync to your device. GPX download works for any cycling computer or app.
Where does elevation data come from?
Elevation along the route comes from the Copernicus DEM dataset via Open-Meteo and is included in the GPX export.
