Sa Calobra is Mallorca's most famous climb: a ribbon of hairpins engineered into the Tramuntana cliffs, including the 270-degree "tie knot" loop. Sa Calobra (Coll dels Reis) and the Tour
Engineered in 1932 by Italian-Spanish engineer Antonio Parietti, Sa Calobra was built without heavy machinery, curving down to the isolated port through a tight canyon. It features 26 hairpins and the famous 270-degree "Nus de Sa Calobra" (tie knot) bridge where the road loops over itself.
Because Sa Calobra is on Mallorca, it is not part of the Grand Tours but serves as the unofficial world benchmark for pro training camps. Tom Pidcock set the all-time Strava KOM in December 2022 during a winter training block.
